New freshman must often wait  before seeing a HOPE / Zell Miller award. This is because high schools are not able to report final GPAs to the State until after graduation season in Georgia. That reporting generally happens in May and June and, sometimes, into July. Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) is the state office responsible for administering state programs such as the HOPE Scholarship. They are also the office who collects all information regarding Georgia high school graduates and final GPAs for HOPE purposes. Once your eligbility can be determined with GSFC, GGC will award you even if it is after the semester has begun.  If you receive an initial award without HOPE and we confirm your eligibility later, we will revise your award and notify you.
Students must still apply for HOPE to be considered. Students must also have a completed financial aid file to be considered.
